Torrific is Down: Officially Ceased Operation

Torrific.com, a very popular online tool that converts torrent files to direct http download, has officially ceased its operation, making their website inaccessible / down as of today. This unfortunate decision made by the Torrific team could be an after effect of the recent shutting down of file hosting websites and other similar online services engaging into copyright infringement like Megaupload.

Torrific Alpha is famous for providing a very fast and almost free convertion of torrent files into direct http links. A user can convert almost every torrent files online like movies, music albums, games, computer softwares, and many more. Free users were given up to 10GB of file size to convert daily which is pretty much big already. Unlimited service were also offered for premium accounts which cost a $10 monthly fee. Now, with a big sad face from its loyal supporters, this free and almost unlimited service is now taking its end.

Premium users were also notified about this unfortunate move through email:

Please note that torrific has ceased operations. Your recurring paypal subscription has been cancelled. You will not be charged again in the future. We are processing pro-rated refunds at this point in time.

Please notify us should you not receive a pro-rated refund in the next seven days in your paypal account.

Torrific Alternative

As of the moment, there's still no similar service as good and free as Torrific (nothing that I know of). Some are saying that they were just having a temporary down until the online copyright issues lay off. I just hope that its true where loyal users will surely be glad hearing it too.

Best Android Powered Watches of 2012

Just in case you haven't heard or seen this yet but, Android is now coming to our wrists. Yes, you heard it right. Different gadget manufacturers (including Sony) have started to introduce to the public some stylish wrist watches powered with Android OS.

At first, you might think if such small devices can really run this popular mobile OS but manufacturers have proven it to be possible. Although this customized Android does not have the full feature when compared to it's mobile version, you will be amazed what this high tech wrist watches can do to its lucky owner.

I know there are other Android powered watches out there in the market (some of them might have been available for quite some time already), but for now I'll focus with these two certified attention getter Android watches during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012.

Smart Watch by Sony

Sony has made the public debut of thier first Android powered watch called Smart Watch. This 1.3 inch OLED multitouch screen display wrist watch is powered with Android Honeycomb that can store up to 255 widgets which can be used to interact with other Android devices. The Super Watch was design to mainly act as an extension device to control your Android phone like Sony Xperia.

Smart Watch connects with your phone via Bluetooth wherein you can read and send emails, make and answer calls, send SMS, lauch your Music app, and many more. It is also capable of send you Facebook and Twitter updates, RSS feeds, and calendar / events notifications. One downside of this gadget though is it requires an active Bluetooth connection to sync data with your Android phone, which can cost a portion of your phone's battery.

Smart Watch is available in six different colors (Black, Grey, White, Pink, Teal, and Blue) and will cost for about US$149. No specific lauch date yet was set as to when this amazing Android watch will be available for public purchase.

I'm Watch, as their slogan says, is the world's first real smartwatch. It isn't just a watch that tells time but also lets you receive calls, sms, and e-mails straight on your wrist. It showcases a full 1.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 240 x 240 pixel screen resolution (slightly bigger than Sony), 450 MHz ARM processor, 64 or 128 MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a 450 mAh battery, and runs under Android 1.6.

What makes this amazing watch stand out from Sony and other smart watches is that it doesn't rely to phone connectivity at all times. It can access Facebook, Twitter, and even watch a video. Because of its built-in internal storage and memory, i'm Watch can load and play music and other apps directly on the device without maintaining a bluetooth connection to a phone. Battery life can also last up to 48 hours of casual use.

I'm Watch also has more color variations (as seen on the picture). One disadvantage though with I'm watch is that it's a lot more expensive compared to Sony SmartWatch. Depending on the model, prices ranges from $329 to $2,299.

How to Backup Android using Titanium [Step by Step Tutorial]

Learn how to backup and restore your Android phone using Titanium Backup Pro.

Android phones are very common nowdays. Its versatility and constant evolution makes it at par with other competing brands and even surpass them. But more than the physical phone, data stored inside it such as phone contacts, document files, call logs, and other important notes are the most valuable. That is why, it is a good practice to backup Android and its benefits are quite self explanatory. So if you haven't started backing up your Android phone yet, one best way to do it is by using a third party app over the Android Market called Titanium Backup. Follow these short tutorial on how to use Titanium to backup your Android phone.

Backup Prerequisites

Before you can create a full backup for your Android phone, first you need to meet these following requirements:

1. Must have a rooted Android phone (with Superuser Application) - If your phone is not yet rooted or you don't have any idea what it means and how to do it, Google is your friend! Just try to type in "how to root <your phone's model>" and you're good to go. The Superuser app usually comes preinstalled when you root your device but just in case you don't have it, you can download it here for free: DOWNLOAD
2. Intall Titanium Backup Pro Application - you can download it HERE. Once downloaded, extract the zipped file. Install first Titanium Backup and once done, don't open it yet. Install TBPatcher, open TBPatcher App then press the "Press to Activate" button. Now launch the Titanium Backup App and press "Allow" once a Superuser Request window pops up in your phone screen.

How to Backup your Android phone using Titanium

1. Click the Titanium Backup icon to lauch the application.
2. On the top of the screen, select the "Backup/Restore" tab.

3. Titanium Backup allows you to select single or multiple applications to include in a backup.

3.1 If you want to backup only certain apps, just click on the app you want then select "Backup". Wait for it to prompt that the backup was completed successfully.

3.2 To create a full backup for your Android phone (Apps + Data), click on your phone's menu button, then select "Batch".

Click the "Run" button beside "Backup all user apps + system data". (Note: There are also other available choices depending on your backup preference. See screenshot below.)

A new screen will appear which allows you to uncheck any apps you want to exclude from the backup. You will also notice that the "Pause" selection botton is selected by default. Just keep it that way then click "Run the batch operation" on top.

Just wait for the backup to finish and you're DONE.
Note: By default, your backup was saved on your phone's internal storage (SD Card) under the TitaniumBackup folder. If you want to change the backup destination, just hit the "Menu > Preferences > Backup folder location" and change it let's say to your external memory card.

How to Restore using your Titanium Backup

1. Open the Titanium Application.
2. Click on Menu, and select "Batch".
3. Scroll down until you reach the "Restore" section.
4. Click the "Run" button beside the "Restore all apps with data".

A new screen will appear which allows you to uncheck any apps you want to exclude from the restoration. Just keep the "App+Data" selected if you choose to fully restore your phone to its previous state.

Wait for the restoration procedure to finish and you're DONE.

Some useful questions about Titanium Backup

1. If I uninstalled Titanium App, wiped my phone, upgraded by Android to a newer version or a custom ROM, will it erase my previous backups too?

No, unless you formatted / re-partitioned your phone's internal storage (SD Card) where the default backup folder resides. Wiping your phone or uninstalling only the Titanium App, will not format your phone storage so it should be okay. But just to be sure, it is recommended to change your default backup folder to your external memory card (micro SD) as it will not be affected when you totally upgrade your phone.

Megaupload Shuts Down, Founder Arrested (Updated)

A big and shocking news for all Megaupload users! The largest and world's most popular file hosting website, Megaupload.com, was permanently shut down (offline) late Thursday, January 19, 2012, by the U.S. Department of Justice after charging the website and its officials of "participating in a racketeering conspiracy, conspiring to commit copyright infringement, conspiring to commit money laundering and two substantive counts of criminal copyright infringement".

On top of it, most Megaupload officials were already arrested and are currently under the US government's custody. Among the list of arrested officials include Megaupload's founder Kim Dotcom (Kim Schmitz) together with his three (out of six) co-workers Finn Batato, Mathias Ortmann, and Bram van der Kolk while others were still on the hunt. Formal court proceedings will follow through but once proven to be guilty of the said charges, arrested officials could be imprisoned for twenty (20) years in maximum.

Update: Megaupload website can now be accessed by typing directly on your browsing its IP address which is http://109.236.83.66. Though I still haven't tried downloading previously uploaded files using their old link (w/ Megaupload domain name) to see if they still works. You can try it by replacing the domain name with the IP address mentioned previously.

Megaupload is really a very useful website for internet sharers and users. Their superb service made them on top as compared to other competing file hosting websites. But unfortunately, people tend to abuse their services by uploading and sharing stuffs including those who are not meant to be shared publicly like items which are copyrighted to their respective owners. The Megaupload team failed to filter such copyright infringing materials on their servers that is why they are now reaping the consequences of it. Negligence or tolerance of such inappropriate acts by their users makes them guilty of such accusations.

But the question now is: Why did the US Department of Justice made this move in the middle of the SOPA / PIPA controversy (just a day after the Wednesday blackout SOPA PIPA protest participated by big websites including Wikipedia)? Is it a counter protest by the goverment to express their strong support to pass the bill? Hhhmmm.. But moving forward, I still hope that Megaupload can get back to full operation but they should be more stict in ensuring total compliance with existing laws the second time around (if still given the chance). This does not only apply to Megaupload.com but also to other file hosting / sharing websites who engage with the same activity.

3. Using a Ziploc bag, place your Silica gel packets together with your iPhone inside it. Make sure it's securely closed. Similarly, you can use uncooked dry rice and an airtight plastic container (like Lock & Lock containers) instead of those two.

4. Leave the Ziploc bag or plastic container for two (2) to five (5) days. This will let the Silica gel or rice to absorb moisture coming from the water.

5. Once done, try switching ON your iPhone and see if it still works. Do a thorough check (try typing on your touchscreen, call and send a message, test your camera and speakers, etc.) to identify possible problems after the water damage. If everything worked fine, then you are LUCKY enough.

They say, to earn money online, you have to work hard and be constantly dedicated to your craft. Learn to love what you do first and the profit will come second. And that's exactly what I did. After busy days of work, I still find time to write articles for my website and continue earning from it. And yesterday marked history in my whole blogging career: I received my first Google Adsense payment via Western Union Quick Cash which I would like to share my experience with you all.

I've been a member of Google Adsense since 2007 but due to invalid activities detected on my website (I was ignorant back then), my Adsense account was disabled just three (3) months after. Since then I have been struggling on finding alternative ways on how to earn extra income online while continuing my blog site. One money making that sustained me back then was by doing sponsored posts by custom advertisers. Though the pay is good, it's not constant as compared to Adsense where you can earn daily income from your visitors clicking your ads. So I decided to go back to Adsense again. And luckily I got to enroll back myself to Adsense last January 2011 and promised to comply with program's policies at all times.

I was checking for emails yesterday when I noticed an email coming from Google which says: "You've been issued a payment from Google Adsense". Honestly, I'm already expecting an Adsense payment from my earnings last month but never thought it would be this early (expecting it to be between first or second week of December). But more than amazed, I was very happy to know that I can already claim the money at Western Union branch anytime starting yesterday. So before going to Western Union, I searched for any valid government IDs I have which I realized: I HAVE NONE.

As stated by Adsense, I have to present at least two (2) government issued IDs like (Passport, Driver's License, Postal ID, Voter's ID, TIN, SSS, etc.). Being a fresh graduate who is employed for more than a year already, most of my government IDs are still on the process which I have to wait for a while to receive it (thanks to the very fast ID issuing from Philippine government agencies - I'm being sarcastic here). Some blogger friends who's been receiving Adsense payments too suggested me to get a Voter's and Postal ID which they say can be issued right after applying. But I didn't bother falling in long lines in the municipal hall just to get those. Instead, I went to Western Union directly hoping they would accept my only valid ID on hand: my Company ID.

When I arrived at the nearest WU branch, the first thing I asked from the teller was the full list of valid ID they accept. As opposed to my belief, I'm very happy to see Employer's ID (Government and Private) on the list. Thank God I was able to spare a Php 580.00 pesos fee for applying a Postal ID which I considered applying if my current ID will not be accepted. I filled out a form for first time customers on that Western Union branch then wrote down the MTCN and sender's information. I handed down the form and my company ID to the lady and waited for around 5 minutes. She then called me and finally handed down my first Adsense earnings. I had mixed emotions that time. Now, I have the money to spend for number one item in my Christmas wishlist. :)

This experience of mine proved to me that Adsense really works and pays! So if you have a blog or a website, you too can start earning online by placing Adsense ads on them. Apply different blogging tips and techniques to maximize your earnings. Google search is your friend.

Do you want to completely view your Facebook status history? I discovered a cool app which automatically displays all previous Facebook status in one single page.

This morning, I was trying to find a specific status I posted in Facebook a few months ago. The new Facebook Timeline (which I've activated on my Facebook profile using a simple trick) seems to helped me a bit by showing a chronological listing of statuses and activities I have in Facebook. But I felt it was overloaded with information; making it harder for me to find what I seek. Looking for a simple listing of my Facebook statuses brought me to an awesome website which does the job as I want it to be.

The website I'm referring to is called ArchivedBook.

How to Repair a Scratched / Unreadable CD or DVD

Repair Scratched CD / DVD

Can a damaged or severely scratched CD / DVD still be recovered or repaired? This is also the question (recover damaged disk) I've been wondering myself for the past few days.

CDs and DVDs still remain as conventional portable storage device for saving important files and documents. While portable USB flash disk and hard disk drives (HDD) are common nowadays, the use of CD and DVD are still widely observed by many; especially for computers with blocked USB ports. While this is true, compact disks life span, however, deteriorates the more you use it. Disk scratches caused by frequent use might make your CD / DVD unreadable and lost your data.

I, too, have a bunch of those damaged and unreadable CDs and DVDs which I want to repair. While searching the internet, I found a simple and effective way to recover damaged disk (CD or DVD) worth sharing.

Repair Scratched CD / DVD

Option #1: The power of toothpaste - It might sound odd but rubbing a toothpaste on your CD's surface can help you repair those CD scratches. Toothpaste is proven to cover those holes in the polycarbonate plastic layer of a CD; thus making the scratches disappear or minimized. This will help your optical disk to read your CD better by removing deflection of the laser beam.

Here's how to repair CD using toothpaste:

1. Clean the surface of your damaged CD / DVD with a clean soft cloth.
2. Apply a small amount of toothpaste to a soft cloth or cotton swab.
3. Gently rub the toothpaste solution on your damaged CD starting from the center going outwards to the edge of the CD.
4. Continue the process until the scratches have disappeared or almost visually invisible.
5. Gently rinse the CD with water then dry.

When you are done, try to place your newly repaired CD or DVD on your optical disk drive (CD-ROM) and see if it works.

Option #2: Use CD Data Recovery Tools

If the above option does not work for you, try using a free CD data recovery tool like this one: download here. Just install the program and run it. This free data recovery program will search for files available in your damaged CD and try to recover them by saving it to your local disk. Simple and fast!

Add Album Artwork on iTunes: Automatically & Manually

Learn how to add album artwork on iTunes, automatically or manually!

If it's your first time to use iTunes and import all songs available in your PC, you will probably notice that some songs doesn't have an album covert art displayed. This is common especially for songs that are downloaded individually via the internet. Also, some might not be using the official album cover art for that album or song; thus, you need to change them with the official one.

There are two (2) ways on how to add an album cover artwork in iTunes. You can do it automatically or you can do it yourself manually.

Add iTunes Album Artwork Automatically

To automatically add an album artwork in iTunes, you need to:

1.) Sign in first on iTunes Store using your Apple ID and password. If you don't have one, you can create an Apple ID here.

2.) Once you're done, select the song or songs you want to add or change the cover artwork. Right click your mouse then select 'Get Album Artwork'. It will now search the iTunes database for the official album artwork and will show it once found.

If you want to get album artwork for all your songs, just click 'Advanced' on iTunes top menu, then select 'Get Album Artwork'.

In some cases where the album artwork cannot be found in iTunes, try to correct and complete your song or album information (like song title/name, artist, and album name) so that iTunes can find the correct album artwork. If you still get the same error after doing so, that song or album might not yet included in iTunes' database; thus, you need to manually add the album artwork yourself.

Add iTunes Album Artwork Manually

To manually add an album artwork in iTunes, you can do it by individual song or by group:
(Note: Before you can add an album artwork manually, you must download first the official cover / artwork in your local drive. Use the Google image search to find the appropriate cover or artwork)

1.) Individual song:

- Select the song > Right click > select 'Get Info'
- Under the 'Artwork' tab, click the 'Add' button.
- Locate where you save your downloaded artwork then click 'OK'.

2.) Group of songs:

- Select all the songs you want to have the same album artwork
- Right click > select 'Get Info'
- When asked, just click 'Yes'
- Under the 'Info' tab, mark / check the 'Artwork' checkbox on the lower right side of the window.
- Drag the download image to the box
- Click OK.

This way, no other third party entities can intercept and monitor what you are doing in Facebook; thus, preventing possible insertion of malicious activities by hackers. 2.) Create a strong Facebook password

Official iPhone 4S in the Philippines by December 2011!

Yes, you heard it right! While some of you have already heard this news but the iPhone 4S will finally hit the Philippine mobile market next month, December 2011(well, officially) with Smart Communications, Inc. as the official mobile carrier in the Philippines.

For years now, Globe Telecommunications has been the country's official iPhone distributor, offering bundled mobile data plans to Philippine mobile subscribers. But guess now, Smart has snatched out the Apple deal from Globe. After acquiring Digitel (Sun Cellular) earlier this year, Smart is now considered the largest mobile telecommunication provider in the country with almost 50 million mobile subscribers nationwide. This may have made a great impact on Apple's decision as to who among the two Philippine mobile networks (Smart and Globe) will carry the latest iPhone.

In an interview with Manny V. Pangilinan, chairman of PLDT-Smart, the big boss himself confirmed the deal which was also published in a Philippine newspaper right after. Apple, after learning this premature announcement, expressed their disappointment about it which, for them, shouldn't be disclosed to the public at least one or two weeks before the official launch date.

Well, what's done is done. So, the next thing to look forward now that Smart already won the deal is how the Philippine subscribers will respond to it.

Smart iPhone 4S Pricing

What most aspiring Filipino iPhone 4S users are looking into now is how much will iPhone 4S be priced. iPhone 4S was already available as preorder for some mobile gadget shops nationwide with not less than Php 45,000 pesos price for the cheapest iPhone 4S (16GB) model. Smart's pricing for the iPhone 4S was not revealed yet although there are claims that it will be available for for premium Smart subscribers with UnliData 4000 or All-In Plan 3500 (with definite amount as cash out). Motorola's second generation tablet, the Motorola Xoom 2, is finally rolling out in the market revealing the Motorola Xoom 2 full specifications and price with its first market release in UK and Ireland earlier today.

Motorola Xoom 2 comes in two (2) varieties: the standard one and the media edition (cheaper tablet). iOS 5.0.1 Released to Fix Battery Problem

One major issue of iOS 5 (Apple's latest mobile operating system) since the iOS 5 public release last October 12th is the rapid draining of battery life of iOS 5 powered Apple devices. A few weeks after its debut, a number of iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch users who opted to upgrade their devices to the latest iOS started to notice and complain about the faster draining of their device's battery.

After some observations, one iPhone 4S user who also experienced the same battery problem suggested a temporary fix to improve the battery life. He concluded that one causing the battery problem is the iOS setting that automatically update its timezone. The feature's constant pinging to various location servers to update the device's timezone might be the one causing the fast battery drainage.

To turn off auto update timezone setting, just go to the Settings app > Location Services > System Services, then turn off the Setting Time Zone option.

How to Fix iOS Battery Problem Permanently

Just today, Apple has officially released the first iOS 5 update, iOS 5.0.1 which will permanently fix the battery problem experienced by user of iPhone 4S and other iOS 5 powered Apple devices. Among the changes made in this latest iOS 5 update are the following:

Adds Multitasking Gestures for original iPad
Resolves bugs with Documents in the Cloud
Improves voice recognition for Australian users using dictation

How to Block USB Ports in Windows

USB devices are very common nowadays. Because of it's portability and large disk space capacity, it has become a major choice for most computer users in saving documents and other important files. But together with these benefits are possible threats.

Whether we are using an office or personal computer / laptop, having an open or enabled USB ports on our machines can pose a great computer security threat where any computer user can plugin a possible virus infected flash disk, external hard drive, or any other USB capable devices. Unrestricted USB ports can also create an uncontrolled flow of data within our computers; enabling other users to sneak out personal or corporate data and save it via USB.

With these, two (2) possible workaround or solutions would be either (1) disable or block USB ports or a smarter way is to (2) disable write access of USB ports. Here's how to do it:

Disable or Block USB Ports in Windows

(works on Windows XP, Vista, and 7)

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate, and then click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Services\UsbStor
4. In the right pane, double-click Start.
5. In the Value data box, type 4, click Hexadecimal (if it is not already selected), and then click OK.
6. Quit Registry Editor.

Note: may require Administrative privileges to open RegEdit.

Disable Write Access of USB Ports in Windows

(works on Windows XP SP2 or higher)

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
3. Locate, and then click the following registry key:

Siri on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G? Is it even possible? Since today, the answer is definitely: YES but not quite. Hackers and jailbreakers were able to install Siri on iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G with a tweet confirming it late Satuday night, October 29. Although the installation seemed to worked successfully, the decision whether to release the workaround to the public is still pending.

Siri, Apple's voice-based personal assistant, was one of the core features of iPhone 4S introduced by Apple during the new iPhone's announcement event. However, to distinguish it from its predecessor iPhone 4, Siri was made to exclusively work for iPhone 4S devices only. These leaves older iPhone and iPod Touch users in question whether they too can experience Siri on their Apple devices.

In various attempts to port Siri on iPhone Touch 4G, Steve Troughton-Smith and Grant Paul have proven their experiment to be successful with a screenshot and a video provided. Reports say that Siri works "literally just as fast" as the iPhone 4S on the iPhone 4. According to Paul, UI on the iPod Touch felt "slightly slower" (maybe because of its hardware limitations), though the actual Siri was "pretty much identical". Another thing is that Siri doesn't work entirely well on iPod Touch due to the relatively poor performance of the microphone which requires your voice to be loud enough and close to the microphone to interpret the command properly.

Windows' mobile operating system, Windows Phone 7.5, is now finally available on Nokia Handsets - the latest Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710, the "first real Windows Phone" as said by Nokia CEO Stephen Elop. Have you visited the Apple website lately and noticed the updated specs of Macbook products? It's been quite a while since we got an update regarding Macbook Pro laptops but before ending the month of October 2011, Apple made a silent Macbook specs update on their official website showing improved specs but for the same price as the old ones.

Although the update made no changes on Macbook's physical unibody design (which I think is already unnecessary because of its superb, neat and slick design), Macbook's hardware updates yet pushes it to another level - now with faster CPU (using Intel's i5 and i7 dual-core processors), improved graphic chips (AMD Radeon HD 6770M), and bigger storage capacity (from 500GB to 750GB).

BlackBerry Giving Free Premium Apps Following Outage

BlackBerry wants to make peace with its customers.

Stung by a widespread BlackBerry outage this week, parent company Research in Motion is looking to smooth the waters with disgruntled users by offering free access to certain premium applications.

The Waterloo, ON-based company made the announcement this week. A selection of premium apps – worth more than $100 (USD) – will be provided free-of-charge to subscribers “as an expression of appreciation for their patience during the recent service disruptions,” a Research in Motion statement said.

The statement continued to say selected apps will be made available over the coming weeks on their “App World” site and will remain free until Dec. 31.

A list of selected apps, released by Research in Motion, includes:

In addition to the free apps, enterprise customers will also be offered one month of free technical support and existing customers will be offered a complimentary one-month extension of their technical support contract. Customers who do not currently have technical support will be offered a one-month trial of BlackBerry Technical Support Services’ Enhanced Support, the statement said.

“We have apologized to our customers and we will work tirelessly to restore their confidence,” said RIM Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis, in the statement. “We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again.”

Lazaridis noted the 12-year-old BlackBerry global network supports more than 70 million customers.

It remains unclear whether the freebie offers will placate irate customers who primarily lost data communications during the outage that lasted three days before it was corrected. There are other deals for blackberry bold, from what I know.

Beginning Monday, Middle Eastern, European and African customers were subject to the outages. On Tuesday, the problem spread to South America and Asia. By Wednesday, customers in the United States and Canada were also unable to send or receive text messages or access the internet from their mobile devices, according to news reports.

In a statement at the time, Research in Motion said the outages were caused by a core switch failure within the system’s infrastructure and a back-up switch “did not function as previously tested.” As a result, a huge backlog of data was generated and the company had to scramble to clear the data clot and restore normal service. It is not exactly known how many worldwide BlackBerry users were affected by the outages, but speculation is the figure could be in the millions. It was not the first time BlackBerry customers had to deal with an extensive service outage.

McDonalds Beating Incident Video

A very hot topic today that spreads like a virus in the internet is the McDonalds beating incident video posted last Thursday on YouTube. The video, which draw public attention after making a national news headline, shows a McDonalds cashier beating up two (2) female customers with a rod in New York's Greenwhich village after some argument regarding the latter's orders.

As of this moment, the video already got more than half a million YouTube views. Rayon McIntosh, the cashier, was charged with felony assault charges and criminal possession of a weapon. The two women were charged with trespass and disorderly conduct. One of the women suffered a fractured skull and a broken arm in the incident.

How to Change Icons in Windows Vista / Windows 7

Changing the default windows icons might be a pretty easy task for some computer users but there are others who doesn't know how to do it at all. So for their sake, in this tutorial, we will all learn how to manually change your Windows Vista / 7 icons. First, we need to create a new blank folder as demo item.

Step 1

Create a new folder. On your desktop, right click your mouse > select New > then Folder. A folder named 'New Folder' with a standard icon will then appear on your desktop.

Step 2

Right click the corresponding folder icons (or shortcut icon) you want to change, then select Properties.

Step 3

Select the Customize tab at the top right portion of the newly opened windows.

Step 4

Click on the 'Change Icon...' button which can be found at the bottom left portion of the windows.

Step 5

Click on the 'Browse...' button in the new window, select the folder where your icons are located on your hard disk drive, and pick the icon (in .ico file format) you want to use.

Step 6

After you've chosen an icon, click OK.

Step 7

Finally, click on either the 'OK' or 'Apply' button at the bottom of the window and then close it.

Step 8

You're Done!

How to Change Windows Desktop Icons

If you will notice, certain Desktop Icons (e.g. Recycle Bin, My Computer, My Documents, etc.) cannot be changed using the steps mentioned above. Here's how to do it.

Step 1

On your Desktop, right click somewhere in an empty area and select Personalize.

Step 2

On the left side bar of the window, look for 'Change desktop icons' and click it.

Step 3

When a new window opens, choose the corresponding icon you want to modify.

Step 4

Click the 'Change Icon...' button

Step 5

Click the 'Browse...' button, then follow the same steps (steps 5 to 8) mentioned above.
